Synopsis
The Chemistry Department of the University of Cambridge, in collaboration with the Chemical Information
and Computer Applications (CICAG) of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), are organizing a
Cheminformatics/Computational Chemistry Postgraduate Symposium to foster interactions between
students and postdocs in the field with industry, which will take place at the Department of Chemistry on a
date TBC
The aim of the event is to share knowledge, build connections and inform students of career opportunities
in the cheminformatics/computational chemistry/life science data analysis area (in the widest sense).
For students/post-docs
With this call we invite students and postdoc to submit an abstract of a maximum of 250 words for a plenary
talk at the event (download abstract template), where you can display results from projects you have been
undertaking during your phd/postdoc. The deadline for abstract submissions is TBC, and abstracts should be
sent to Danilo Basili at db822@cam.ac.uk. All submissions will be peer-reviewed by the members of the
CICAG Postgraduate Cheminformatics Day committee. Alternatively, there is the option to present a poster
at the event, which will be open to all the participants.
The attendance to the event will be free of charge and food and beverages will be provided by the
companies. In addition, a number of travel grants will be made available. In addition, all registered
companies will be able to advertise their vacancies on a job board, and a list of companies with contact
details will be provided directly to all the participants via hand-outs.
For companies
With this call we invite companies to
(a) Submit an abstract of a maximum of 250 words for a plenary talk at the event, which should be scientific
and address research and development aspects undertaken within the company in the above field. The
deadline for abstract submissions will be 6 April 2020, and abstract should be sent to Danilo Basili at
db822@cam.ac.uk. All submissions will be peer-reviewed by the members of the CICAG Postgraduate
Cheminformatics Day committee.
Alternatively,
(b) There is the option to present 2 minute 'flash presentations' with one slide, and/or to present a poster at
the event, which will be open to all companies. All companies participating in the event are required to pay

grants for a significant number of participants across the UK. All registered companies will be able to
advertise their vacancies on a job board, and a list of companies with contact details will be provided
directly to participants via hand-outs.
